Greetings!

You are invited to register for the 2013 Multnomah Food Justice Summit
because of your organization’s commitment to food system equity.

This year we are excited to welcome LaDonna Redmond, founder of The Campaign for Food Justice Now, as
our keynote speaker! We are also happy to be able to offer
transportation subsides, translation services, and childcare for
participants who otherwise would not be able to participate.

We are offering a variety of different registration options for this event
so that everyone is able to attend regardless of ability to pay. If you
or your organization is able and willing to cover registration for
someone who cannot afford it in addition to your own registration, it is
greatly appreciated.

Registration for the 2013 Multnomah Food Justice Summit will close on Monday, October 14th, so make sure you register early to secure your spot!

Sincerely,
The 2013 Food Justice Summit Staff

SUMMIT BACKGROUND
At the first Multnomah Food Summit in 2010 we imagined what we could accomplish by working together. From that beginning, our community created a 15-year Food Action Plan with a shared vision and shared goals. At the 2011 Multnomah Food Summit, our community focused on turning shared goals into action. At the 2012 Multnomah Food Summit, we focused on Growing Food Justice by cultivating a shared and broad understanding of how we are all affected by a food system that contributes to crises such as chronic health conditions, food insecurity and hunger, climate change and environmental degradation, economic injustice, loss of farmland and undermining of the local economy.

The 2013 Food Justice Summit convenes our community to revisit where we’ve been, evaluate the new and changing landscape, and make adjustments to the coarse that we set in 2010. In this year’s Summit we have 3 main goals: exploring “food justice”, convening and networking, and driving action. We will open our Summit by laying a foundation of what food justice means to our community. Throughout the day we will be bringing together food justice leaders and advocates, food systems businesses and stakeholders to share information, deepen connections and define/refine what we mean by food justice. We will leave the Summit having celebrated past success and updating the Multnomah County Food Action Plan to address the changing landscape and emerging needs in our region.
